Hey, I'm Ward. Since High School (13 years ago) I have managed to stack on the weight. I've never been svelte so I had no real desire to get in great shape, just somewhat fit and my attitude was the same when I started P90X in April, 2011. I expressed interest in getting more physically active with Howie, whose progress I'd been watching on Facebook. It was in late February on a doctors visit when I hopped on the scale and confidently moved the big slider out to 200# and pushed the little one along towards the end. I knew I had been teetering close to the 250# mark, but hadn't been that high since leaving my food service employment. When she had to notch out to 250# and up 3 more on the other I felt like "Fuuuuuu-" I'm 6'1" 253# at that point. I started talking to Howie some more and finally committed myself to doing P90X, but feared I would bail on it early like many do. Day 81 is today and I'm down to 220# so far. It is a complete lifestyle change. Monitoring your calories becomes a job, the workout is a job and staying motivated is crucial. Howie was great when it came to motivation for me. Here was someone I knew who had already garnered some success and more importantly a person I could talk to about my own progress and help to keep me focused. I finish P90X in a little over a week and start Insanity, afterwards a hybrid then on to P90X2. I am more focused and dedicated than I have ever been to get those abs, something that wasn't a goal when I started.
