Day #18 of Insanity-X Plus: Weight 172lbs I've got plans for this Eve so I wont be able to do this workout at my usual time and instead plan to do it immediately after work. I've got Insanity's "Cardio Recovery" & P90X+ "Abs/Core Plus" scheduled today. I added an additional 2.5lbs to my dumbells yesterday moving my workout weights to 27.5/37.5. I've got P90X "Chest & Back" tomorrow so I'll report back with my thoughts about the weight increase.

Ok,ok so I know how I'm supposed to be all hard core about this and all but I've actually missed my last two workouts! Total bull shit I know but I haven't been totally sediment either. I've been swiming and very busy for the holiday weekend. This week is my recovery week so i plan to replace my recovery days with the days I've missed. No pleased as this is the most down-time I've had sense starting. Time to refocus and make sure this doesn't become habbit.

It's a constant battle to maintain focus and I've had moments of weakness where my guilt over missing a workout forces me to make it up. You know better than I and have redirected me a time or two when I've searched for an excuse to miss a workout. You learn very quick, where in my case being in pretty bad physical condition and having to work hard to get to a point where now I feel like I look like a guy who just let themselves go instead of totally giving up (where I was before*I feel), that you have to change your entire lifestyle. It's not 90 days or 60 days or whatever. Those are great benchmarks, but it's your lifetime or as long as you want to be in great shape. It's a constant struggle especially when what preceded working out was years of sedentary behavior. You're doing great Howie and you've made amazing progress. Hang in there and don't beat yourself up over it. Just push forward. Today is a new day and the sun will come up tomorrow...until the apocalypse, in which case your progress will help to ensure your survival.

Yeah no worries bud. Just gotta make it up. Like I mentioned before this week is recovery so I can just swap in real workouts in place of light days. This month was pretty light by my standards anyway so i don't think I'm in desperate need for recovery time. Well, time to go hit up back and biceps.

Ok so I decided to toss in an Asylum program in tonight! Speed and Agility put the hurt down on my ass for sure and burned nearly 600 calories in 45min. I was considering doing an Ab routine as well but I was toast. Weight lifting tomorrow with 37.5#! That's gonna be interesting

Did P90x Back and Biceps tonight. I have added 2.5# to my weights and tonight worked out with 37.5 & 47.5# dumbells. Weighed in tonight at 169! I'm sure it'll be back up to 172-ish by tomorrow night but we'll see. Great workout!

Today: Insanity Fit Test & Insanity Pure Cardio & Speed Rope 169lbs/633kcal/Hi 198bpm (WAY TOO FUCKIN HIGH)/Av 148
I had intended to update this yesterday but got side-tracked. I started off doing the Insanity Fit Test using my old best #s as a goal to beat. I wasn't feeling 100% and my congestion from the tail end of a cold I've had was really getting in the way. I did manage to do equal or better than more than half my old numbers. I fell short in three of the tests. I moved on from there to to Cardio Recovery but mid way through decided it was not amped up enough for me and started up Pure Cardio instead. Finished up PC and did 5min of speed rope high knees and hopscotch than called it a day. My Chest was pretty sore from stepping my weights up yesterday.
Tomorrow: Yoga X

Today: Max Interval Plyometrics & Kenpo Cardio Plus 172lbs/924kcal/Hi 178bpm/Av 148
So I took a big bite of cardio today! Started off with Insanity Max Interval Plyo and stuck with it pretty well. Oddly the part I had the most difficulty with is the excessive number of pushups! I suspect I'm just not used to the speed of the pushups in this workout. Even still I really didn't fall too far behind on the program and finished approx 95% of the workout with good form throughout. Just as I finished this workout I decided that Bri wasn't going to skip out on working out so I kicked on P90X+ Kenpo Cardio Plus and did that workout with her. It was just easy enough that I had no problem doing the whole workout at about 110% with good form throughout. Doing these cardio workouts back-to-back really showed me how second rate even the P90X+ cardio is when compared to Insanity. I was doing most of the Plus moves faster than shown in the video and never saw my HR go above 150 and most of the time it was in the upper 130s to mid 140s.
Tomorrow: Uppers Plus/Ab Ripper X

Nice work man! Yes, did the Plyometric Cardio Circuit yesterday and it makes P90X Plyo seem like childs play. I love both programs and am looking forward to the hybrid and especially P90X2 though. Variety keeps it interesting. Insanity came at the right time for me when the same vids were starting to feel a little stale, but it will be nice to revisit them in a month when I start the hybrid.

Today: Cardio Power & Resistance 172lbs/432kcal/Hi 170bpm/Av 140
Pushed myself hard and was impressed with my follow through. I set a goal to stay with or surpass each exercise and was able to do so. My left knee has been a bit sore over the past few days but didn't cause me any discomfort during the workout. I made certain to keep good form so that I wouldn't further injure my knee. I did feel slower during 1,2,3s but that may be because I pushed a little harder in other areas. I still don't feel up to par on the Level 3 drills but I'm pushing hard and I think I'll catch up soon.
Tomorrow: Cardio Recovery/ Cardio Abs

Today: Max Recovery
I had totally expected this workout to be like Cardio Recovery....it's not. Like Peter North, it's long and hard! I was supposed to Abs Core Plus after this workout but I had absolutely no desire to keep going by the end of this workout. Not because I was so physically tired but because I wanted to get some sleep. I'll of course move the Abs Core Plus to after tomorrow's Chest and Back workout. Here is my thoughts right now: While I think the P90X Yoga video is awesome and extremely beneficial, I absolutely HATE it! It's slow, long, and boring! I always find a reason or way to skip it so it's just not benefiting me to keep thinking I'll do it. My thoughts are that even though Max Recovery isn't quite as in-depth in the stretching dept. as Yoga is, I think it covers all the essentials and keeps it at a pace and time frame that works for me. I think I'll be replacing all my yoga days with Max Recovery. I don't have any HR or Kcal measurements for this workout because I didn't expect it to be what it ended up being.
Tomorrow: Chest & Back/ Abs Core Plus

I totally agree on the Yoga X thing. It is miserably long and while I know it's muy benefito I would usually sub in a cardio workout or elliptical time. I would rather watch a mini Seinfeld marathon or something for 1 1/2 hours on the elliptical than go through that tedium. Max Recovery though? I'll have to consider that when I move into the hybrid next month. Glad you brought up the Yoga thing. Let's me know I'm not the only one who felt that way.

Today: Back & Biceps 368kcal, 172lbs
Worked out with 27.5#/37.5# for most of the workout although I jumped up to 47.5# for the Lawnmowers. I am really stoked I held up so well with the increased weights. I do, however, need more work in this program because while I did well with the increased weight my pull UPS and chinups suffered a bit. I was still able to do two unassisted corn cobb pull ups so I was stoked about that. Great workout and I really love these Power Blocks for helping me milk as much as I can out of workouts like this.
Tomorrow: Pure Cardio & Cardio Abs

Today: Max Interval Plyo & Running (3.29mile) 170lbs/1123kcal
As I mentioned in my post after my workout I decided to add a 5K run to my day. I plan to add in a few of these runs to my workout week when I can fit them in. I've started using and App called "Endomondo" to track my runs and also allow me to compete with friends runs. I believe the app is available for Android, iPhone, and Windows 7 phones.
Tomorrow: Shoulders, Tris/ Ab Ripper X
